Weekly Montana Hay Report
Compared to last week: Alfalfa hay sold steady to 5.00 higher. Supplies of high
quality alfalfa in squares are tight. Producers increased prices to of dairy
quality
hay to at or near 1.00 per RFV point. Much of this hay is being shipped east to
Midwestern dairies. All other hay offerings sold steady this week. Moderate
market
activity was seen again this week. In state demand from ranchers was moderate
to
good this week as they purchased hay mostly in rounds. Straw purchases were very
active this week. Straw sold steady to 5.00 higher. All prices are dollars per
ton
and FOB unless otherwise noted.
